Mrs. Selma Young, aged 83 years, of Bloomer township, died Sunday at noon from old age. She was the widow of Jacob Young, who died in 1884. Mrs. Young leaves two sons and one daughter. The funeral will occur tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock from the residence in Bloomer township, Rev. Hoff officiating. Interment will be in the Lutheran cemetery in Bloomer township. Mr. and Mrs. Young came to America from Germany in 1844 and moved to Iowa ten years later, where they since resided. They were among the oldest settlers of Pottawattamie county.
Mrs. Selma Young, aged 83 years, a pioneer resident of Pottawattamie county, died Sunday night at her home in Plumer settlement. One daughter, Mrs. Christian Beck of Lewis township, and two sons, John of Plumer settlement and George of Underwood, survive her. Deceased was the widow of Jacob Young, who died in 1884. Mrs. Young was married in Germany in 1844, and with her husband came to America in 1854. After living one year in Ohio they came to Iowa and settled on a farm in Plumer settlement, where Mrs. Young had made her home ever since. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the family residence and interment will be in the Lutheran cemetery of the Plumer settlement.
