Kenneth L. “Porky” Wilcox, age 77, of Council Bluffs, passed away at his home on February 19, 2016.
Porky was born August 5, 1938, in Sayer, Pa., to the late Lyle G. and Angeline (Lewis) Wilcox. He graduated from Wyalusing, Pa., High School in 1957. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960. Porky married Carolyn “Tiny” Wright on December 29, 1959, in Nebraska City, Neb. They were blessed with three children: Connie, Kenneth, Jr. and Robert. Porky was an electrician for Local #22 and then worked 17 years for Jennie Edmundson Hospital, retiring in 2008. He was a member of Fifth Avenue Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Porky was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn “Tiny” Wilcox on April 3, 2012; brothers, Lyle, Jr., Robert and Richard Wilcox.
Porky is survived by his daughter, Connie Wilcox, of Ocala, Fla.; sons, Kenneth (Terri) Wilcox, Jr., Robert (Michelle) Wilcox, all of Council Bluffs; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Bryce) Jones, Sharon (Francis) Zurn; brother, James Wilcox, all in Pennsylvania; special friend, Sharon Weber, of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service Monday, 9 a.m., at the funeral home. Rev. Kim Brouse will officiate. Interment Plumer Settlement Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa, with military rites tendered by Kanesville Riders Honor Guard. A lunch will follow at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church. Memorials are suggested to Fifth Avenue Methodist Church.
