GLENWOOD — Leon L. Wait, 96, died at the Glenhaven Care Center Sunday morning following a long illness.

Wait, a native of Hampton, lived most of his life in the Council Bluffs-Glenwood communities. He was a retired farmer.

His wife, Sarah, died in 1963.

Surviving are three granddaughters; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Raynor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Laine Mathiasen, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Plumer Settlement Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Services were Tuesday in Glenwood for Leon L. Wait, 96, of Glenwood. He died Sunday at Glen Haven Home following a period of failing health.

Wait was born in Hampton and has lived and farmed most of his lifetime in the Council Bluffs and Glenwood areas.

Survivors include his daughter, Dorothy Buch of Glenwood; three granddaughters, Eleanor Thomas of Ames, Carol Snyder of North Platte, Neb., and JoAn Myers of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Green Wait, in 1963.

Services were at Raynor Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Laine Mathiason officiating. Casket bearers were Mike Blankenship, Walter Green, Arnim, Roger and David Young, and Richard Cody. Music was provided by Rev. Mathiason, soloist, and Carol Condon, organist. Interment will be at the Plumer Settlement Cemetery. Memorial may be made to the Salvation Army or Trinity Lutheran Church.
