Rural Mills County Woman Killed In Omaha Car Crash

Mrs. Amelia Thieschafer, 74, a life-long resident of Mills county, died Saturday night of injuries suffered in a three-car accident in Omaha.

Mrs. Thieschafer was born on a farm in St. Mary's township and resided on a farm within three miles of her birthplace. Her address was route 1, Council Bluffs.

The aged woman was a passenger in a car driven by Elmer K. Johnson of route 1, Council Bluffs. He and his two children, Rhonda Diane, 3, and Roger Duane, 2, suffered injuries in the accident but were able to be released from the hospital by Monday. Mrs. Johnson was treated and released shortly after the mishap.

The other two drivers, Jerry J. Kayl and John F. Blankman, both of Omaha, were not injured. Kayl was the driver of the car that collided with the Johnson vehicle when it crossed over to a lane of oncoming traffic at 42nd and L streets in Omaha. Kayl was booked by police for investigation and released on bond.

Mrs. Thieschafer's death was the 402^nd traffic fatality this year in Nebraska.

The widow of Henry J. Thieschafer who died in 1951, the Mills county woman was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Mineola.

She is survived by two sons, Walter J. and Henry, both of route 1, Council Bluffs, and a daughter, Mrs. Frank Woksa of Council Bluffs; five sisters, Mrs. Bessie Zimmerman, Mrs. Walter Klindt, Sr., Mrs. Joe Kellogg and Mrs. William Scheidle, all of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. William Huff of Treynor; two brothers, Louis and Chris Enselman, both of Council Bluffs; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Cutler Chapel at Council Bluffs with the Rev. Carl Kemper, pastor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was at the Plumer Settlement cemetery.
