Janice L. Shadid, age 75, of Council Bluffs, passed away August 6, 2021 at Midlands Living Center.

Janice was born July 25, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska to Martin J. and Violet “Lucille” (Arp) Kotrba. She graduated from Omaha South High School in 1964. Janice married Robert Shadid on May 2, 1970. They made their home in Florida for many years where Janice did in-home babysitting. After moving to Council Bluffs, Janice worked for Lewis Central Schools.

Janice was preceded in death by her father, Martin Kotrba in 2003. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert Shadid of Council Bluffs; daughter, Robin (Jason) Houser of Glenwood, Iowa; grandchildren, Sadie, Brayden and Tyler Houser; mother, Lucille Kotrba of Council Bluffs; sister, Joan (Bill) Malone in California; and brother, Dennis (Penny) Kotrba in Florida.

Visitation with the family, Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Thursday, 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment Plumer Settlement Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Plumer Cemetery Association of the American Heart Association.
