Henry Saar, a pioneer of Mills county, died on the 11th inst., at the age of 65 years. He had lived in the Bloomer (sic—should read “Plumer” instead of “Bloomer”) settlement in Mills county since 1852.

Death of Henry Saar.

Another aged and well-known resident of Mills county, Henry Saar, died at his home in the Plumer settlement yesterday morning at 5 o'clock. The deceased was aged about 66 years. He was born in Bavaria, and came to this country in 1842, when 19 years of age. He resided in Missouri about ten years, and then removed to Mills county, where he remained until his death. In 1843 he was united in marriage with Miss Sophia Plumer, daughter of the gentleman after whom the Plumer settlement was named. Seven children were born to them—six sons and one daughter, the latter being the wife of Dr. Deetkin, of this city. All of the children survive their father, and reside in this and Mills counties. Under his loving guidance and care they grew to woman and manhood's estate, upright and honored by all who know them, as was the kind father who has just been summoned hence. A very large circle of friends extend their heartfelt sympathies. The funeral will occur at 12 o'clock to-day, the remains starting at that hour from his late residence to the Lutheran church in the Plumer settlement where appropriate services will be held. Friends of the family invited to be present.
