Gordon W. Pleas, 72, 1715 Ave. M, died Friday at a Council Bluffs hospital.
Pleas was born in Missouri but lived in Council Bluffs most of his life. he retired in 1978 from Union Pacific Railroad where he worked as a freight handler for 30 years. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Leigh of Council Bluffs, Brenda Kramer of Omaha, and Beverly Reeks of Council Bluffs; two sons, Randy Pleas of Ogden, Utah and Keith Pleas of Council Bluffs; two stepsons, Dwayne Pleas of Eufaula, Okla., and Gary Pleas, living in Illinois; five sisters, Velma Crow of Council Bluffs, Dorothy Leaders of Logan, Nancy Ives of Anchorage, Alaska, Effia Sherwin of Sterling, Colo., and Evelyn Jones of Alexandria, Va; brother, Claude Pleas of Council Bluffs; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Beem Belford Chapel with the Rev. Frank Greenwood, pastor of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plumer Township Cemetery with military graveside rites performed by Rainbow Post No. 2, American Legion.
Family visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the Beem Belford Funeral Home.
