FUNERALS.

The funeral of August Pollock, (sic) who was killed Sunday by falling from a street car was held from the Lutheran church in Plumer settlement at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial took place in Plumer cemetery.

AUGUST POLLOCK MEETS DEATH IN PECULIAR MANNER—FUNERAL WEDNESDAY

August Pollock, aged 53 years, a brick mason who has been making his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Chris F. Green, about seven miles south of Council Bluffs in Lewis township, fell from a street car at Seventh avenue and South Main street about 6:30 o'clock Sunday evening and was almost instantly killed.

Pollock received a fracture at the base of the brain as a result of the fall, and his death is supposed to have been caused by this injury. That his fall may have been due to apoplexy, however, is the theory of physicians.

Pollock spent the day in Council Bluffs and a few minutes before the accident had eaten dinner at the home of C. A. Wendlandt. He left the Wendlandt home in company with a friend, Fred Pries, and they boarded a northbound Manawa car. The car was crowded with pleasure seekers returning from the lake, and Pollock and Pries were compelled to stand on the rear platform. Pollock stood near the edge.

In taking money from his pocket, with which to pay his fare, Pollock dropped a coin and as he stooped to pick it up he suddenly pitched headlong from the car which was in motion. The car was stopped as soon as possible, but when the conductor and others reached Pollock he was dead. Blood flowed from his ears and mouth. Dr. R. B. Tubbs, city physician, was summoned, but there was no occasion for medical aid.

The car from which Pollock fell was in charge of Conductor Russell and Motorman Elledge.

The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the Lutheran church in Plumer settlement.
