Joseph W. Nansel, 97, of Glenwood, died Saturday at a Glenwood care center.
He was a retired farmer and World War I Army veteran. His wife, Elsie, died in 1973.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenwood with the Rev. Arlyn L. Sturtz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Plumer Settlement Cemetery north of Glenwood.
Survivors include a son, Earl of Glenwood; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bessie Kellogg of Denver, Colo.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church. Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood is in charge.
Funeral services for Joseph William Nansel, 97, of Glenwood were held October 10 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenwood. The Rev. Arlyn Sturtz officiated, with burial in Plumer Settlement Cemetery north of Glenwood.
Mr. Nansel passed away October 7, 1989, at Glen Haven Home in Glenwood.
He was born August 7, 1892, in Pottawattamie County, the son of Joseph and Mary Nansel. He served in the Army during World War I, and married Elsie Klindt on March 17, 1920, in Council Bluffs.
Mr. Nansel spent his life as a farmer, retiring several years ago.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1973, and by one son, Herbert.
Survivors include a son, Earl Nansel of Glenwood; and a sister, Bessie Kellogg of Denver, Colo.
Ardis Dusenberry was the organist at the funeral service. Pallbearers were Carl Fillman, Joe Wall, Dwight Robshaw, Robert Wells, Sid Anderson and Donald Bruce.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church. Petrson Mortuary of Glenwood was in charge of arrangements.
