Lona D. Johnson, age 70, of Council Bluffs, passed away October 30, 2010, at the Amelia House.
Lona was born October 23, 1940, in Council Bluffs to the late Frank and Leona (Thieschafer) Woksa. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1958. Lona married Elmer “Ken” Johnson on May 14, 1960. They were blessed with two children, Rhonda and Roger.
Lona was a cook for Lewis Central Schools for 15+ years. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Country Church. Lona and her husband spent many winters in Texas with their friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Elmer "Ken" Johnson, in 2002.
Lona is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Gunther and husband, John II, of Lee's Summitt, Mo.; son, Roger Johnson and wife, Mary, of Council Bluffs; 4 grandchildren, Kendra (Ryan) Burke, John (Amy) Gunther III, Allison Johnson, Melinda (Clint Rice) Johnson; 3 great-grandchildren, Bailey Burke, Elliana Gunther and Carsen Rice.
Family receiving friends, Monday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Tuesday, 10 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment Plumer Settlement Cemetery. A lunch will follow at St. Paul's Evangelical Country Church. Memorials to the church or Asera Care Hospice.
