Mrs. Christina W. Green, 84, widow of Henry A. Green, for sixty-eight years a resident of Pottawattamie county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wilhelmina Wiseman, at Logan, at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, after an illness of three weeks

Death was due to paralysis.

The body was brought to Cutler's funeral home.

Mrs. Green was widely known throughout the county. She was a member of the Lutheran church in the Plumer settlement near Dumfries.

She is survived by four sons, Gustave A. Green of North Branch, Minn., Chris F. Green of Council Bluffs, Charles J. Green of Harlan and William D. Green of Council BLuffs; two daughters, Mrs. Wilhelmina Wiseman of Logan and Mrs. Sarah Waite of Council Bluffs; two brothers, Lewis Frohardt of Granite City, Ill., and F. C. Frohardt of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Mass of Omaha and Mrs. W. A. Serving of Woodbine; nineteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Plumer settlement Lutheran church, preceded by short services at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. L. Waite, Route No. 1, Council Bluffs, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Alfred Hoff of Millard, Neb., will officiate. BUrial will be in the Plumer cemetery.


Mrs. Christenia Green Buried at Dumfries

Mrs. Christenia W. Green, for many years a resident of the Dumfries neighborhood, passed away at the home of her daughtere, Mrs. W. Wiseman at Logan, Iowa. Her remains were brought to the home of another daughter, Mrs. L. L. Wait of Dumfries, where a short burial service was held before being taken to the Dumfries Lutheran church for the formal service. Rev. Alfred Hoff of Millard, Nebr. officiated at both services.

Music was furnished by the Price quartet. Pallbearers were Marvin, Arthur, and Richard Wiseman, Walter and Alfred Green, all grandsons and Howard Poole, nephew of Mrs. Green.

Flower girls were Viola Miller, Martha Fiala, Mildred Martin, Elda Green and Dorothy Wait, all granddaughters.

Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery at Dumfries.

Mrs. Nick Kiersch of Mineola, who is in her ninety-second year is the only remaining sister.


Funeral Services Sunday For Pioneer Resident

Christenia Wilhelmina Frohardt was born April 22, 1849, near California, Mo., in Moniteau county and died Sept. 21, 1933, at the age of 84 years and 5 months.

She was visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Wiseman, near Logan, Iowa, during the past month and has been ill the last three weeks with paralysis.

In 1866, at the age of 17 years she moved with the family to Iowa, locating in Pottawattamie county near Dumfries. The trip to Iowa was made by steamboat, landing at Kanesville, which is now called Council Bluffs. The family then walked 12 miles to their new home.

She had many thrilling experiences with the Indians during the first years of her life in Iowa. She was confirmed March 11, 1867, in the Lutheran church, of which she was a faithful member until death.

On March 29, 1867, she was united in marriage to Henry A. Green. They located on a farm in Mills county where she lived 49 years. Into this union were born nine children, two dying in their infancy, and one son, Louis, at the age of 28. Her husband died Oct. 7, 1915, at the age of 82, his death being caused by paralysis. Since then she has made her home with her son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Wait.

Surviving are four sons, Gustave A., North Branch, Minn., Chris F. and William D., of Council Bluffs, and Charles J. of Harlan, Iowa; and two daughters, Mrs. William Wiseman of Logan, and Mrs. Leon Wait of Council Bluffs; two brothers, Lewis P. Frohardt of Granite City, Ill., and F. C. Frohardt of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Mass of Omaha, and Mrs. W. A. Sewing of Woodbine, Iowa. She also leaves 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were hald Sunday afternoon at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Leon Wait, at 1:30 p.m., followed by formal services at the Lutheran church in the Plumer Settlement. Rev. Alfred Hoff of Millard, Neb., officiated at both services. Music was furnished by the Price quartet.

Pallbearers were Marvin and Arthur Wiseman, and Richard, Walter and Alfred Green, all grandsons, and Howard Poole, nephew.

Flower girls were Elda Green, Dorothy Wait, Viola Miller, Martha Fiala, Mildred Martin and Emma Noel, all granddaughters.

The body was laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery at the Plumer Settlement.


Funeral Services For Mrs. Green on Sunday

Mrs. Christiana Green, 84, pioneer resident of Mills county, passed away this Thursday morning following an illness due to her advanced age.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 24, at 1:30 p. m., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sarah Wait, and at 2:00 at the Plumer Settlement Lutheran church north of Glenwood.

Burial will be made in the Plumer cemetery.
