It is with a sad heart that we again take up our pen to say that once more the winged messenger of Death has made his appearance among us. This time the families of Silas Morse and Adolph Goos, living some three and a half miles north of Silver City, are called upon to mourn the sudden death of their sons. Last Friday morning Willie, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Morse, and Alfred, the eldest son of Adolph Goos, aged 10 and 13 years respectively, went to school as usual. When the noon hour came, the boys, in company with one or two others, went to the creek. The little fellows went in to bathe, and being unable to swim were soon in deep water and passed over to the great beyond. Word was soon brought to town and a searching party went out. But it was almost two hours before the bodies were recovered. On Saturday little Willie's body was laid at rest in the City cemetery, the funeral services being conducted by Elder Parsons, of Glenwood. On Sunday all that was mortal of little Alfred Goos was taken over to the cemetery at the Brick Church, southwest of Mineola. In conclusion we can only say that words sound cold and harsh when such trouble as this is upon us. But we extend to these bereaved families the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.
