Martha Giesse (about 1874-1896)

Webmaster Note: On p. 136 in Mills County Iowa Cemeteries, Martha Giesse is listed as having no gravestone, but is listed as a possible burial at the cemetery based upon “difficult to decipher” church records written in “old script” (see the actual 1896 church record entry below). Note the difference in the spelling of her name: “Geise” in the newspaper clippings and “Giesse” in the church record.

Mrs. Martha Geise died yesterday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph's hospital in Omaha, of typhoid fever, aged 22 years. The remains will be taken to Plumer cemetery for burial.

The funeral of Mrs. Martha Geise, who died in Omaha Saturday, will be held Wednesday from the Lutheran church in the Plumer Settlement.
