John G. Brandt, 98, of Route 1, died Wednesday at a Glenwood care center following a long illness.
Brandt was born in Oak Township and was a lifelong resident of Mills County. He retired in 1957 after many years of farming and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Mineola.
His wife, Cassie E., died in August 1960.
Surviving are a son, Al J. of Council Bluffs; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard T. (Betty) Terry of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Arthur (Merna) Lodge of Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba, Canada; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Cutler Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Donald Wilkonski, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, will officiate. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service. Burial will be in the Plumer Settlement Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation at the mortuary will be possible after noon on Saturday.
Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church of Mineola or the Salvation Army.
