Jack Brandt, 77, of Council Bluffs died Sept. 9 at Bethany Lutheran Home.
He was born April 29, 1927, in Council Bluffs to Claus and Maude (Barr) Brandt. He graduated in 1945 from Abraham Lincoln High School and attended Iowa State University for one year where he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a lifetime farmer in the Mineola area. Mr. Brandt loved to travel.
Mr. Brandt was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Brandt, in 1993.
Survivors include daughter, Amy Krasne, and husband, Douglas, of Council Bluffs; son, David Brandt, and wife, Beverly, of Council Bluffs; four grandchildren, Eleanor Krasne, Elizabeth Krasne, Julie Brandt and Michael Brandt; sisters, Ann Freudenfeld of Dallas, Alice Walker and husband, Gene, of Houston, and June Stephens and husband, George, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; brother, Henry Brandt, of Council Bluffs.
There will be open visitation. Graveside service and burial will be Monday at 4 p.m. at Plumer Settlement Cemetery in rural Council Bluffs. Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be offered to Salem Lutheran Church or Plumer Settlement Cemetery.
