J. Bernard Brandt, 87, 1501 Fairmount avenue, died after a six weeks illness of general decline at his home Wednesday afternoon. A retired farmer from Mills county, he was born in Germany and came to America when 11 years of age. He was a member of the Lutheran church in Plumer settlement.

He is survived by two sons, A. C. Brandt and John G. Brandt in Mills county; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Bostedt and Mrs. Julia Vanderveer both of Council Bluffs; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Katie Enselman of Canon City, Ore.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Cutler chapel. Interment will be in the Lutheran church in Plumer settlement.
