Henry Brandt (1854-1937)

Mr. Brandt came to this country from Germany nearly seventy years ago. He farmed in Lewis township until his retirement eleven years ago, when he moved to Council Bluffs. He was a member of the First Christian church.

Mr. and Mrs. Brandt celebrated their fifty-eighth wedding anniversary last November.

Surviving are his widow Mrs. Helena Brandt; three sons, John, Claus and Bernard Brandt, all of Council Bluffs; and six daughters, Mrs. E. C. Briggs, Mrs. R. H. Poore and Mrs. W. E. Blood of Council Bluffs, Mrs. E. P. Brandt of Conway, Ark., Mrs. H. W. Klindt of Big Springs, Neb. and Mrs. W. D. Green of Pacific Junction, Ia.

He leaves also two brothers, J. B. Brandt of Council Bluffs and John Brandt of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Katie Enselman of Canon City, Ore.; twenty-four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Woodring's chapel with the Rev. M. B. Pringle of the First Christian church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Fred Coley of the Broadway Christian church. Burial will be in the Plumer cemetery in Lewis township.

Brandt's Funeral Attended by 350

Funeral services for Henry Brandt were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Woodring's chapel. More than 350 persons attended. The Rev. M. B. Pringle of the First Christian church and the Rev. Fred Coley of Broadway Christian officiated. Music was by Mrs. Belle Tilton, Mrs. Paul Robertson and Mrs. E. Gertrude Day. Pallbearers were Edgar Klindt, Walter Green, H. Brandt Poore, Henry Klindt, Richard Green and Robert Poore. Burial was in the Plumer cemetery near Mineola.

Henry Brandt Southwest Iowa Pioneer Passes

Henry Brandt, 82, pioneer resident of southwestern Iowa, died Sunday morning at his home, in Council Bluffs, after an illness of two weeks.
