Dorothy L. Brandt, age 93, of Gretna, Neb., formerly of Council Bluffs, passed away June 3, 2014, at Silver Ridge Assisted Living in Gretna.
Dorothy was born September 14, 1920, in Council Bluffs, to the late Henry and Augusta (Westphal) Buch. She graduated from Glenwood, Iowa High School in 1938.
Dorothy married Albert John Brandt on July 10, 1942, in Glenwood. They were blessed with five children, Keith, Joyce, Roger, Mark and Michele. Dorothy was a homemaker; member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenwood, Dorcas Circle and the Trinity Lutheran Quilters.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Albert J. Brandt on July 14, 1989; great grandson, Jack Pyle; brothers, Carl, Julius, Ernest and Otto Buch; sister, Helen Dickersbach.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Miles) McMahill, of Gretna, Michele (Richard) Delanty, of Camdenton, Mo; sons, Keith (Susie) Brandt, of Seymour, Tenn., Roger (Trudy) Brandt, Mark (Susan) Brandt, all of Omaha; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family Friday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neil-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 512 2nd St., Glenwood. Pastor Seth Kaiser will officiate. Interment Plumer Settlement Cemetery with a lunch following in the fellowship hall at Trinity Lutheran Church. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Dorothy L. Brandt was born September 14, 1920 in Council Bluffs to the late Henry and Augusta (Westphal) Buch. She was baptized as a child into the Christian faith on October 24th, 1920 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 14th, 1935 at the age of 14.
Dorothy graduated from Glenwood, Ia. High School in 1938. Dorothy married Albert John Brandt on July 10, 1942 in Glenwood. They were blessed with five children, Keith, Joyce, Roger, Mark and Michele. Dorothy was a homemaker; and she and Albert were founding members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenwood. Dorothy was very active in a variety of ministries at Trinity throughout the years; she was included as a founding member of the Dorcas Circle as well as the Trinity Lutheran Quilters.
Dorothy was an accomplished cook and baker. She and Albert were known to house and feed a variety of transients and travelers as they passed by throughout the years. Dorothy's faith in her Lord was always evident in her service for others.
In her later years, Dorothy dedicated countless hours to writing and maintaining relationships with friends and family across the country. Even when her writing abilities began failing her, Dorothy continually kept her loved ones in her thoughts and prayers. To be known by Dorothy was to be loved and appreciated.
Dorothy passed away June 3, 2014 at Silver Ridge Assisted Living in Gretna, Neb. at the age of 93 years, 8 months, 2 weeks and 6 days.
