Bernice R. Brandt, 58, Route 1, died Monday at a Glenwood care center after an extended illness.
She was born in South Omaha and resided in Council Bluffs since 1934.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Brandt and her husband, Charles, marked their 39th wedding anniversary Aug. 5, 1979.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Russell and Boyd Brandt, both of Council Bluffs; two daughters, Claudia Gehring of West Germany and Elaine Hessel of Council Bluffs; a brother Frank Woksa of Council Bluffs; sister, Mildred Thieschafer of Council Bluffs; four grandchildren in Council Bluffs and a newborn grand-daughter in West Germany.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Cutler Funeral Home. The Rev. Laurice Streyffeler will officiate. Interment will be at Plumer Settlement Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cutler's. The body may be viewed until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. The casket then will be closed and will not be reopened.
Memorials are suggested to Iowa Heart Association.

Survivors include her husband Charles; two sons, Russell and Boyd Brandt, both of Council Bluffs; three grandsons and one granddaughter living in Council Bluffs, another granddaughter living in West Germany. She also leaves a brother Frank Woksa of Council Bluffs, and a sister, Mildred Thieschafer, also of Council Bluffs.
Services were at Cutler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Laurice Streyffeler officiating.
Interment was at the Plumer Settlement Cemetery.
