Funeral Services for Hulda M. Bowley, 83, Glenwood, were held March 16 at the Raynor, Lett and Kent Funeral Home with the Rev. Fredrich Mellberg officiating. She died March 13 at a Council Bluffs hospital after a short illness.
She was born March 26, 1893 in Mills County, the daughter of Peter and Mary Wortman. She attended the rural school near her home and following the death of her mother took care of the house for her father and family.
Except for four years, she was a resident of Mills County.
On March 20, 1918, she was united in marriage to William C. Bowley in Glenwood. The early years of their marriage were spent farming. Three sons were born to this union, all surviving their mother.
Mrs. Bowley assisted Dr. Plimpton, formerly of Glenwood, on many occasions as a mid-wife delivering babies in this area.
Following their move to Glenwood, she worked part-time in restaurants while continuing to care for a garden.
Music for the services was provided by Mrs. Marion Shook, Mrs. Alex Christensen and Mrs. Dean Dusenberry, organist.
Mrs. Merrill Sargent was in charge of the registry book.
Interment was held at the Plumer Settlement Cemetery, north of Glenwood.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; three sons, Delbert (Bud) Bowley of Glenwood; Odell Bowley of Malvern and Gene Bowley of Chula Vista, Calif.; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; one brother, Louis Wortman of Blair, Neb.; and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Lorsch and Mrs. Lucy Petersen, both of Blair, Neb.

Inurnment will be at Plumer Settlement Cemetery north of Glenwood.
She died Sunday at a Council Bluffs hospital after a brief illness.
