Mrs. Beck's Funeral.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Beck, Pottawattamie county pioneer, who died Sunday, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Boomer (sic—should read “Plumer”) church, with burial in Boomer cemetery. Pallbearers were the five sons, Ed W., G. W., J. A., A. E. and D. E., and a nephew, William Geise. Rev. Hoff of Treynor officiated. Mrs. Beck had lived in this country for sixty years.

SARAH BECK, PIONEER, DIES OF PARALYSIS

HAD LIVED IN THE COUNTRY FOR SIXTY YEARS—FIFTY ON HOME PLACE.

Mrs. Sarah Beck, aged 78 years, widow of the late C. H. Beck, and member of one of the first families to settle in Pottawattamie county, died of paralysis Sunday afternoon at the home place in Lewis township, after an illness of ten weeks.

Mrs. Beck had lived in Pottawattamie county for sixty years and at the old home place for fifty years. Her husband, the late C. H. Beck, was killed by the train at Dead Man's crossing, near the Iowa School for the Deaf a number of years ago. She was born in Alsace and was a member of the German Lutheran church in Plumer Settlement.

She is survived by five sons, F. W. Beck, J. C. Beck, A. E. Beck and D. C. Beck of Lewis township and G. W. Beck of Hardin township, two daughters, Mrs. M. K. Plumer of Lewis township and Mrs. G. A. Green of North Branch, Minn., and one brother, John Young of this city. She also leaves twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, with short services at the old home place in Lewis township at 12:30 o'clock and at the brick church in Plumer Settlement at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Hoff officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery in Plumer Settlement.
